Living a Life of Engagement – A Higher Desire for Living

A theme that has emerged during client sessions and classes of late is around people feeling more of desire to feel a deeper sense of engagement and connection in their lives, families, and work.

What had previously brought a sense of engagement or connection may have lost its wonder, and the feeling of being disengaged (disconnected) can feel both draining and perplexing. For others, it just feels as if something is missing, such as passion, focus and clarity.

An overwhelming feeling of disinterest in continuing in old patterns, roles, and responsibilities seems to be a prevalent experience and yet, if one is unclear as to what they want, or what they believe will bring them a sense of meaning and engagement, it can be challenging to know what to do!

Are You Denying Your True Self?

Denying one’s true self and the passions that I believe are our GIFTS from our Source, just ain’t working anymore! Over time, denial of passions leads to boredom, resentment, and in the long run, can lead to all sorts of dysfunction. Whether we experience dysfunction within ourselves, our bodies, our relationships, or our work or finances, at some point, we just got say, “Enough! It’s time to take responsibility for my own shift™!”

Meaning, at least a deep sense and conscious connection to one’s true and destined meaning, seems to be lacking and is often the underlying reason we feel such disengagement. Instability (anything that we see as insecure) in one’s life and fears of an uncertain (or negatively projected) future can become the main focus of attention and we find it easy to get distracted and may lose focus and energy easily.

Without a foundation in meaning, purpose, and clarity in direction – those things that truly stimulate our souls and engage our minds and hearts - life can feel, well, a little bit like a pinball machine. We bounce from one thing, task, responsibility, or crisis to another but don’t feel that sense of being very grounded in anything particular – or meaningful.

We may find ourselves obsessively reflecting on a past that no longer exists and ruminating over a future that is not yet here. Being fully present to the here and now moments (and all the perfection and miracles that come with being present), is challenging at best.

Sound familiar?

Deep down, I truly believe that all human beings want and need the same things. Love and belonging, expressing one’s freedom of choice, contribution and worth (and various forms of acknowledgment), fun and pleasure, and a sense of being a part of something larger than ourselves is just as core to human existence as those things we equate with survival.

A Desire for Significance

Maybe on some level, meaning and purpose (and the significance that is a wondrous byproduct) is what enables our soul to feel engaged and relevant - an active participant on the human journey. After all, why did it come here? From my perspective, it’s got to be about more than just being dragged along through life as a victim or observer of the complex ways we deny ourselves and others of just simply being who we came here to be, learn what we came to learn, and serve in the ways we are Divinely designed to serve.

Significance and meaning brings an inner sense of stability and purpose that can become the guiding force in our lives. At the core is an awareness, acknowledgment and acceptance of our unique purpose for being and living here on planet earth.

Many people, or so it seems, don’t give much thought to this bigger picture view – the one that directly ties into evolution and growth – of the individual and the collective. Maybe it is because they’ve talked themselves into believing there really isn’t a point to this level of self reflection and growth. Maybe it is because a part of them knows it would demand change. Maybe it is because that what they think is the stabilizing aspects of their lives would no longer hold the same value.

Moving Beyond Fear and Resistance

Over the last few weeks, as is customary for me whenever I am preparing to teach Awakening to Purpose (we begin on Tuesday, March 30 at www.awakeningtopurpose.com), I too enter into a deeper reflection regarding who I am in the world and what I am being called to do in my own authentic expressions.

I too feel the fear come up. What if I discover I’ve been wrong? What if “how” I’ve been expressing my purpose needs to change? What if what was an authentic way of serving in the past is no longer a fit moving forward? How will I be challenged to change? What will I be asked to let go of? What will I be asked to say “yes” to, even if I don’t feel ready or capable?

Every step towards greater alignment with my soul’s path requires some sort of shifting. Whether in perspective (HUGE!!!) or in behavior, I can guarantee some change is on the horizon.

Considering our human propensity to seek and stay in the familiar, and seek certainty in our lives, we can have compassion for the resistance that is likely to come up. The mythologies we must reconcile are not always easy to confront. The bigness we are being called to step towards can feel overwhelming. Parts of you may feel like they are competing with other parts of you.

Yet, intuitively, we get it don’t we?  We get that during each phase of our evolution; we must brace for and, more importantly, embrace a natural, necessary process of expansion and constriction. We get that life is not about staying comfortable, but rather about staying on course with what is emerging on our soul path, and engage our humanness in ways that it (or human self/ego) feels like a part of something spectacular!

And, here is the thing. You are more ready and primed that you give yourself credit for. The “who” you are today is not the “who” you will become…The “what” you feel capable of will expand. The identities of limitation and not enoughness will transform along the way. You might feel hesitant to take the next step and not even be sure what that is.

Normal. It’s all normal! And, you don’t need to be alone in what you know is as an imperative, important, and significant journey. This is one of the reasons I am so excited that Awakening to Purpose is beginning tomorrow. I’ll be right there with you – not just as the teacher – but also as a student – again.

Everything Flows from Purpose

Purpose is, and should be, the foundation from which all else is constructed and flows. Your relationships, the work you do, the new commitments you make, are all WANTING to be founded and grounded in your purpose – your unique reason for being existence on the planet!

Master the Power of Your Mind for Manifestation and Attraction

If traditional Law of Attraction practices don't seem to be "working," it may be because your subconscious mind and the underlying beliefs and perspectives that influence (and even dictate) your REALITY are not aligned with the focus of your desires.

I few weeks ago I shared an article called "When the Impossible Isn't." In the article I said, Limitation is a State of Mind - State of Mind is a CHOICE ...

We are only as limited as we think - as we choose to think. Things are only impossible until they aren't (in your subconscious and conscious minds).

What is it that enables some people, who, even against all odds, to defy them? Over and over again, it is mindset and commitment. Their mindset (at the conscious and subconscious levels) is not mired by stories of impossibility. Giving up is not a choice (at least not for more than a few minutes). Limitation and misfortune is not their identity. Attitude and perception fuels their behavior (their choices) as opposed to rules their lack of it.

Do You Argue for Your "Limitations?"

We can argue for our limitations or we can commit to transcending the ideas and beliefs that have created the idea of limitation.

The challenge is often that we don't engage our subconscious mind in facilitating the inner changes that are needed to facilitate conscious changes. And, the subconscious mind will fight, tooth and nail, to maintain the familiar, even when the familiar is undesired.

This is why many years ago, I became trained as a Hypnotherapist. From Hopeless to Centeredness – a Journey Back to TRUTH

In addition to reminding you that Awakening to Purpose is beginning in just one week (at www.awakeningtopurpose.com) and sharing some exciting news from one of our Power of Our Way Community members, in the next post, I’m also sharing a short article inspired by my 16 year old, Anna Devi Smith, who, in all of her wisdom, gave me an incredible gift yesterday.

Article: From Hopeless to Centeredness – a Journey Back to TRUTH

After a long weekend of beautiful and healing prayer, ceremony, and a sense of accomplishment with some very important commitments with my next book, I received a phone call yesterday that left me feeling discouraged and a little hopeless – initially.

After a good cry and an amazing coaching session with my 16 year old daughter Anna (pronounced Ah-na), I found myself in an entirely different perspective. Amongst the wisdom she shared with me, one thing stood out the most.

She reminded me that every time she has been told “she can’t” she has brought all of her focus to what will be possible after her goal has been reached – all of the other benefits she can possibly project. She also said that anytime someone says something you know is right and true for you isn’t, or if something doesn’t work out in the way you wanted, that you are supposed to use these opportunities as motivation to work harder and stay focused.

She gave me several ideas I honestly had never thought of and said to me, “Mom, you are so close. You can’t give up on what you know is right. This is your destiny. You can’t let anything stop you!”

She then Googled me and began to show me all of the ways I show up in other people’s lives.  When I said, maybe I should have made other things a priority (like security and safety) she said, “Are you kidding? Look around you. Look at how many people are happier, me included!”

FROM BURDEN TO BLESSING

One of the most life altering moments we can experience is the moment we shift from a perceiving life’s curve balls as burdens, to trusting that every “bump in the road” is delivering blessings – if we can stay present and in this consciousness of faith. Within all perceived burdens and hardships are keys that will unlock the doors to the mysteries of your existence and the contributions you were created to make. Until you can shift from seeing life’s trials and tribulations as blessings, as opposed to carrying them burdens, the higher purpose of your life, and the wisdom provided through the hiccups experienced along the way, may remain hidden.

One of the most significant moments when I experienced this shift from burden to blessing, was in 1997, when, in an immediate response to me acknowledging my gratitude for things I had previously held as resentments, caused an instant healing from a deadly disease (no exaggeration). A year later I met and ultimately married my husband and songwriting partner, Brent Law. Today, only 13 years later and after big changes spiritually and professionally, I can honestly say that life continues to deliver me validation that I am on the life path I was destined for.

I may not always appreciate all that life doles out in the moment, but I can honestly say I trust that I am ALWAYS being nudged towards a deeper sense of my purpose and Divinity with each challenge and every blessing.

The Universe awaits this shift in us all and is fully present to the moment when we decide to initiate a commitment to stay awake to this discovery.

When the shift occurs, it is as if it activates all of the people, inspiration, opportunities and resources needed to fully live out your life mission, and to come into the next level of your own awareness. Talk about a magic button! It may not be as easy as you would like, and it may be very different than your picture of your desired future (as was my own Awakening to Purpose), but it will reveal the magic that has been lined up for you all along!

Celebrate Nothing Short of Joy

A few months ago, one of our very own community members, Julie Genovese, reached out to me and sent me her new book to read. I had just seen her on Wayne Dyer’s Excuses Be Gone video series (her life has inspired Wayne greatly) and knew her story would inspire many!

Do We Co-Create Our Miracles?

About 13 years ago I heard a few statements that altered the trajectory of my life.

They went something like this;

 

·     We don’t find ourselves in any situation unless we’ve given ourselves permission to be there (unknown)

·     The quality of your thoughts is your prayer (unknown)

·     You are perfectly aligned to get the results you are getting (Dr. Stephen Covey)

·     “You can't solve a problem with the same kind of thinking that created it.” (Albert Einstein)

 

Surrendering to the powerful truths in each of these statements, I began to look at my life, and the horror story I had written into my life’s manuscript very differently. 

 

Maybe it was being told I was dying. Maybe it was realizing my marriage was doomed from the beginning. Maybe it was the extreme fatigue and pain that had become so normal I couldn’t imagine anything else.  Maybe it was the little voice inside of me that was whispering, “All of this can change in a moment, Anita. You can co-create a new reality.”

 

We all come to the crossroads of change in different ways.  We all have a threshold of discomfort that becomes unacceptable. What we do about it, however, is what makes all the difference in the world. All I knew was that something needed to change. Back then I didn’t have any evidence that it could. No one in my life was saying “You can heal.” I didn’t have anyone saying, “You have a choice and I’ll show you the way.” All I had was a little voice that was getting louder and louder in a body that was losing its will to live, within a mind that had become tragically aligned with pain and limitation.  Looking back, it was two simple thoughts that shifted everything. “I can’t take this anymore” and “I’m going to heal.”

 

December 24, 1996 - Decision Day. Twice I had been separated from my first husband and both times, I found myself getting sucked back into my own self-created drama. Then, something inside of me shifted. I was done. I was done with the pain. I was done with the conflict. I was done with the emotional rollercoaster that had become familiar. Done.

 

December 31, 1996 - Truth Day. Although I could not find a place to live and my body was falling apart, I told my husband I was leaving.  As much as I can now look back and see that he was one of my greatest gifts, I also know I would have never healed from Lupus if I had stayed. It was too toxic and draining to the very energy I needed to harness to receive the healing that was soon to come.

 

January 11, 1997 - Liberation Day. As my usual 90 minute drive from my house to my mom’s grew to 3 tentative hours in a blinding blizzard, I could feel the shift happening. The snow was so heavy and the skies were so dark, it looked like I was traveling through space, the snow flakes flying by me at the speed of light creating the feel of traveling through star fields. My tears were unstoppable. This time was different. Absolution. Liberation. Completeness. There would be no turning back this time.

 

January 12, 1998 - Break Down Day.  There’s a joke that goes something like this. Where does one find God? In jails and churches, of course! Considering I had worked in jails since 1990 and had not yet found God (or so I thought), church seemed like my next best option. I stepped into the sanctuary needing desperately to find just that. Sanctuary. Hope. Peace. Relief. Faith. Home. I needed it all. I think I cried every Sunday for the first eight weeks.  I needed to break down in order to break though. The divorce was soon to turn into an apocalyptic hell.  

 

I was broke and any hope of getting my possessions had been lost. I was sharing two rooms with my two babies, both in diapers I couldn’t afford. I prayed. And then suddenly, my mom, who worked for Procter and Gamble at the time, began receiving boxes and boxes of diapers and baby wipes in the mail.  I don’t think I bought diapers for the next two years. My ex disappeared. Oddly, I started to see that my prayers and needs were being taken care of. Parts of me were waking up. I was on the path to healing.

 

Spring 1997 – Radical Healing Day. It’s interesting that I remember the exact dates that lead up to the most radically important day of my life but the actual date of my miracle healing escapes me.  It was sometime during the spring of 1997. Standing alone in the woods I had only what could be called an awakening moment. It was an indescribable flash when all of what I needed to know and understand flooded into my awareness like a rush of electricity passing through every aspect of my being. It was as if I stepped into a realm of consciousness that was not bound by time or space or common logic. Just like that I was healed. Just like that I knew information that could never be found in a book, a workshop, or any set of religious or spiritual teachings. Just like that I started to channel writing that was beyond what I ever could have written myself. Just like that.

 

Maybe this is what people called a rebirth, or being reborn. Yet, it was beyond a spiritual or mental shift. It was beyond the physical. It was beyond the limited possibilities imagined by human consciousness. It was, for lack of any other way of describing it, as if I touched the face and mind of God and nothing, NO THING, would ever be the same again.  I also experienced what might be called a psychic opening. Personally, I think I just got out of the way of receiving and perceiving information we all have access to. I could feel other people’s feelings in my body. I knew things before they made any sense. I perceived energy in everything and everyone.

 

I also became less patient with the unimportant and frivolous.  My faith became the central part of my existence and although I was hooked into an incredible spiritual community, I still felt a bit isolated in my experience. I had a foot in both worlds – the physical and the spiritual – and I saw everything differently. I was able to alter potentially violent situations in the jail by alchemizing the energy I was emanating in my thoughts and emotions.  I started dating some wonderful men but needed a deeper spiritual connection that went beyond words. Although my personality was fine with never getting married again, my soul must have requested something different. And then. . .

 

April 3, 1998 - Reunion Day. The day I healed from Lupus, I also met an incredible family. Jeanie Law and I connected and she invited me to a weekly prayer group. For the next year, every Tuesday morning, before making my way to work, I gathered in sacred circle and prayed. Each week I prayed for Jeannie’s son Brent. She had watched him in a downward spiral into an addiction that needed to come to a halt and change direction quickly. Between our prayers and his decision to live, he quit drinking, and after a near death experience that required a few electric jolts into his heart to bring him back, he got the help he needed.

The first time I saw Brent in person, on April 3, 1998, something within me began to stir, in spite of all of the ‘reasons” it was a bad idea. He was blonde and I liked dark haired men. He was newly separated and I was in the tail end of a complicated divorce. He was just out of rehab and I didn’t want anything to do with someone in recovery. After all, I worked with addicts full-time in the jail. From Brent’s perspective, the idea of going out with an addictions counselor, after just spending 30 days with an army of them, was less than attractive.  As much as I had great compassion for him, and was open to friendship, I quickly dismissed his sister’s hintings that we would make a great couple. We shook hands and said, “Nice to meet you. See you at church on Sunday.” We may have well as brandished crosses and flicked holy water on each other before high tailing it out of the parking lot, laughing at the insanity of his family thinking we belonged together. Little did I know, two days later everything would change.

 

April 5, 1998 – Upside Down Day. Thank God I had turned myself over to a higher intelligence. Two days later, as I introduced my new “friend” to my church circles, I began to feel the same electricity I felt in the woods just a year earlier. My whole sense of myself was turned upside down. I couldn’t control the uncontrollable. There was no escaping a fate that had been set in motion before I ever took my first breath. My soul (and God) took over and my heart blasted so wide open it was physically painful and emotionally freaky. I fell in love with Brent that day, and despite all common logic or practicality, three months later we were combining families (five kids in all), got engaged, and moved into together.

 

August 7, 1999 – Wedding Day. Married on the riverfront at my parent’s home, I recall the Hindu/Christian wedding and our vows to a marriage between us and the Divine Mystery that had brought us together. Last year, as we were packing up our lives and heading to a new state, I found the tape of our wedding. As I watched us leading one another around the sacred fire and sharing traditional Hindu wedding vows, I cried in the realization that what had been hopes and wishes were now unquestionable commitments.

Today – Every Day is a Miracle. Just over 11 years since our first meeting, I still look at him and fall in love again every time.  He is the only person who can look at me and make me blush and giggle like a 13 year old. His mind is fascinating and his voice is captivating. As goofy as it sounds, we write beautiful music together. We create, serve, cook, and clean together. The first few years weren’t always easy. We both traversed deeper layers of healing and integration. We’ve endured losses and co-witnessed miracles that could not have been fully explained if we didn’t share the experience. We found our “selves” together, and as a result, stepped onto a partnership and spiritual path that is leading us, literally and figuratively, into the desert in service to a faith and commitment we both share and support in one another.  

 

What’s Your Recipe?

 

A few years ago, people began asking us “What’s Your Recipe?” We were asked to teach and coach individuals and couples about spiritual partnership. Radically different, yet uniquely similar, we make a good team. Our retreats are said to be magical, and through our partnership with spirit, we create spaciousness for expansion and healing to occur. I could go on to define the commitments that have become the core of our work in spiritual partnership but I think one thing truly stands out. We don’t stand for oppression. Sounds odd, but in my reflection this morning, I realized this is quite foundational. Whether reminding each other of the choice to engage in an oppressive thought (towards self or others) or choosing liberation (again and again) from situations that stifle our creativity and expression, we also are secure enough to encourage flight in the other.

 

If something is good for one of us, it is good for both of us. We are very “free” with each other and have deep and loving relationships with men and women alike. To tell you the truth I don’t think Brent has ever gotten jealous, nor have I ever felt threatened by his growing fan club (he is a musician, after all!) of amazing women.

 

We love that other people love us. We love that we love others so deeply. We have parts of our lives that don’t heavily involve the other and others that are completely overlapping. And, at the end of each day (every day), we come back into the foundation of our active lives; the special places that are uniquely for just the two of us. We’ve agreed to never go insane at the same time and to love each other in each stage of our evolution. Therefore, the expectation of “sameness” just isn’t there. He’s often heard saying, “I’m never so in love with Anita today that I can’t fall in love with who she will be tomorrow.”

 

Personally, I love that we’ve agreed to evolve together and I am grateful every day that our spiritual path is one we walk together.  Whether it’s showing up for ceremony, chopping wood and tending fire when the other can’t, taking the kids shopping for their upcoming dance, spending time with a friend in need, or cleaning out the litter box and unloading the dishwasher, we move in and out of supporting each other in the totality of our commitments and responsibilities.

 

It’s a good place to be. It’s a great place to grow. It’s a heavenly place to serve from. And, it’s a level of partnership that is not exclusive to romantic partners. The commitments we share and teach extend into relationship on all levels; within self, with Source, in partnership, and with every single being on the planet.

 

Traditionally we’ve always done this level of work (together) in person. However, as we look at the opportunities we face as a human race, it is clear that this level of service is much needed and wanted. Long ago I heard that our passion is the world’s hunger. I think the world is hungry and open enough to see that we each have the power to influence great and lasting change in our lives.

 

And…everything exists in relationship – everything. I think at a soul level, we are ready to see and be with one another in the ways we were intended, as opposed to socialized and conditioned. It is time to share our recipe with others. Single people, couples, partners and business colleagues will all benefit from this way of living and being in the world. In truth, it only takes one person to change a relationship, just as it takes only one idea and vision to change the world.

And So The Table is Turned

Over the last two weeks I was honored to have the tables turned on me as I was interviewed by two dynamic hosts, Les Brown and Lorraine Cohen.

During the interview with Lorraine, she shared her recent experiences with the movie and meditation I recently shared called "God Knows the Sound of Your Voice." They both asked me some powerful questions about the meaning of life, awakening to one's Divine purpose and plan, my own path of healing and transformation, and what I saw as opportunities for those committed to their own growth and opening to new, emerging pathways of service, healing, and conscious evolution.

If You’re Frustrated….it could be a Purpose Issue

My own words stared me in the face tauntingly. Feeling quite frustrated of late, I had (yes, I said “had!”) to take pause and yesterday, after an intense but beautiful weekend of service, I took the day off and prayed.

As I formed the 500 prayer ties (a Lakota way of praying) I noticed some interesting things. One, I noticed how challenging it was to “stay in my prayer.” I imagine over the course of the five or six hours I probably found myself in a distracting thought thousands of times (no exaggeration), or found myself tempted to turn on my computer and begin to engage in another behavior that I deemed as “productive.”

As I prayed, I felt old things coming up (this is expected) and at one point, even called my good friend Lorraine Cohen for a little perspective.

She dosed me with some love and during our conversation and a meditation she lead, I observed two important things.

First, I observed an old thought pattern that sounds like, “It’s not fair!” Going back to early childhood, I could see how the pattern was resurfacing in some of the frustration I’ve been feeling towards myself and my own life path. The other was the level of frustration I was feeling about some of the ways I serve…and wish to serve more, but not seeing the results in the ways I truly desire. At one point I appeared to myself, and spoke two statements, both things I have said in previous interviews or articles.

My own words…“If You’re Frustrated….it could be a Purpose Issue,” caused me to reflect upon the layers of purpose, including passions and authentic expressions.

The deeper I went, the more frustrated I got. What I am dancing with today is related not so much related to the question “What is My Purpose?” Rather, it is around the question, “What are the most authentic expressions of my purpose?” and, “how and with whom am I to serve?”

Truth be told, the last year and a half has been challenging. A move to another state, along with changes in the economy, and a few “disappointments” have not been entirely easy.  I’ve surrendered a lot and have also initiated and accepted some life changing commitments on my spiritual path that I knew would kick up some stuff that had the potential to bust me wide open.

Divine Discontent

I’ve long said, “The Universe makes it impossible to stay the same.” We receive nudges in all sorts of ways, sometimes through synchronicity sometimes through inspiration, and sometimes through what I call Divine Discontent.

I think that many of us are feeling Divine discontent. We see a potential that seems just outside of our grasp. We’re busy, often out of balance, and the results of our efforts are not always what we imagine – or hoped for.

A few years ago, during an interview and in a few articles, I said and wrote, “Divine discontent is a sign of the soul unexpressed.” As much as it is uncomfortable, I really do believe these moments to be stunningly important and ultimately very revealing – if we can stay present and not distract ourselves.

Fear of change – or what we might find out during these important times of contemplation can keep us from receiving the guidance that will lead us to a greater expression of soul. Impatience can be a sign of a lack of faith. It can also, as my good friend Kimberly Marooney recently reminded me during a mastermind group, be evidence that the Universe is lining things up – and indicating that the energies of great transformation are gathering for big changes (and prayers answered) that are  just around the corner.

Transformation Isn’t Always Easy (or so it appears)

This weekend, we had an opportunity to show up for a few people who were really struggling. Both were suffering from outcomes related to not following their intuition. Both situations were, admittedly, shocking (and Divinely perfect) examples of what happens when we step out of our center and thus compromise who we know ourselves to be.

Healing is happening, but not entirely easy or comfortable. Time is needed. Self forgiveness is critical. The pain is real. Compassion for self and others is necessary. Some changes in outlook and behavior are imperative. Healing is a process and doesn’t always fit our desired timeframes. Divine timing and order rules…whether we resist it or not! The most important lesson for me this weekend was to be open to the ways Spirit wants me to serve because it may be very different than what I had in mind! In surrendering to what showed up, we opened for some amazing magic that we could not have orchestrated ourselves!

Go Within…or Go Without

As I prayed yesterday, I acknowledged that although I am solid in my purpose, I sense changes to the expressions of that purpose. Even opening to this question, and the thought of receiving the answers that will follow, sparked some fear.

What if I’m told to completely change everything? What if I need to acknowledge that some things are not working? What if the dreams and projects I am working on are not aligned with my soul path and what is being asked of me right now, today?

The very things I believe I need right now are things that are not in my direct control or influence. Some of my most treasured and healing spiritual practices rely on other people. The ceremonies that nurture me the most have been unavailable to me. The priorities of family and work compete with timing of things that I simply need to surrender, trust and open to a natural unfolding. And, when I prayed and asked “what is mine to do?” I didn’t really receive clarity as much as I received more confusion.

And…it is all OK

I do possess an unwavering faith and trust in Divine unfolding. I know that there are times when surrendering to Divine Discontent and asking the big questions, reveals amazing guidance.  A letting go is required. I have some attachments; that is clear. I may even be in resistance to some necessary changes. And, it is all OK, will be OK and my faith says… it is all working towards Divine perfection, even when it is uncomfortable!

God is Quite the Jokester!

It does not escape me that Divine Timing and Order are working in my life in some funny ways. The fact that I am getting ready to teach Awakening to Purpose (visit www.awakeningtopurpose.com for the details and an audio message) in a few weeks is awesome!!!!

No matter how grounded I ever feel in my life and purpose, every single time I have taught this program, I too have gone deeper and always access my next, “What’s next!” In addition to a deeper and more well define purpose, we open to what we call authentic expressions, some of which we may not even be conscious of, or for whatever reasons, we have not made priority.

Two Things That Stabilize Us

Recent conversations with dozens of people are pointing to some amazing commonalities in so many.  Forced (albeit Divinely organized) transitions such as job losses, health challenges and divorces have posed a threat to both security and familiarity. In the midst of change, there are two things that seem to create a foundation for change to occur in ways that safety and security are not so threatened; community and a deep sense of purpose.

Community refers to three things.

1.    The community between your ears (all of those voices who are either working competitively and distracting you, or collaboratively and in support  of your purpose and highest good)

2.   The community from which you receive high-level, empowering support, insight, and accountability

3.   The communities through which you serve and derive meaning

Purpose is more important than many seem to understand. Meaning comes from purpose. Direction and clarity come from purpose. Expression in the physical comes from purpose. Intimacy with the Divine (God) comes from purpose. Even deep comfort comes from being truly aligned with your purpose – your ENTIRE REASON FOR EXISTENCE.
