Are You Asking the Bigger Questions?

Living In a Miracle of Faith

I awoke this morning to a sense of deep longing and a sadness that perplexed me. Was I coming off the “high” of an incredible five-day healing retreat with one of my most courageous clients? Did I travel into a dream that left me feeling a little off?

As I greeted the sun and sat under the trees, I closed my eyes and breathed into a heart that felt less heavy than I first thought. “This is not sadness,” I thought to myself. Rather, it is a desire to share a message on a scale that I have yet to reach.

Over the last few weeks, I have reflected upon the last 3 years of my service, feeling an immense gratitude for the profound nature of the “work” I do and the gifts I have received along the way. Yet, something bigger is emerging in both my writing and recordings and in my healing work with clients. Magical and mystical in nature, I am surrendering to a will and force beyond my own, unsure of the path that is beckoning me to move into unknown territories.

And, as someone who is inherently impatient, I crave to see that which I simply must surrender too – an unfolding that is inevitably much grander than what my human mind would be willing to construct.

Like you, I want to know the details up front. I bounce back and forth between total trust and gut-wrenching fear. I question, at times, my intuition, my purpose, and I wish for a level of sustained grace that at times feels completely beyond my reach.

And, in the stillness, I hear the voice of a higher intelligence. I feel a surge of energy and inspiration that does not feel as if it is completely my own. My pen moves across the breathtaking landscape of a clean page in my journal. The sound of the pen gliding across the white paper is evidence of a miracle discovered in a silent conversation that is first absent of words and I feel myself morphing into higher form.

“Surely this does not come from my own mind?” I question, as I read the words that provide the very guidance I was seeking.

“Doubt is preventing you from truly partnering in the perfection of The Divine; a consciousness that depends on your faith and trust to facilitate the highest good in your life. For the higher, Spirit-infused will of your most authentic being to take dominion over your humanly conditioned mind, you must live in the faith you desire to live in. Your individual consciousness is yet a microcosm of the larger collective. You are connected on a cellular and genetic level to all that exists in the realm of creation. This lineage had its genesis in the first moment I, the Creative Source, thought of the idea of introducing spirit into form. You are both creator and created and I seek to presence myself through all of which I create. You shortchange my intellect when you question the reality of your experiences and deny my expression through you. If you would stop resisting me and let go, I’ll carry you far beyond the edges of your imagination.”

A hawk flies overhead as the wind speaks to me through the voices of the tall ones, the trees that offer me the joy of their dance. They seem to be giggling in the delight of my surrender; clapping in joy that I have been present to the message.

I breathe in the moment and open my palms to the sky. I’m traveling into a spaciousness that is not dictated by physical laws or human ideas of limitation and lack. A glimpse of holiness that no words could describe, yet I know I can share in my walk and work in the world.

The words I shared in Divinity Movie come back to me, a reminder of a previous conversation that warrants revisiting before I officially start my day. I open my eyes and hawk circles above me, as if to say, “Yep, still here! Aho Mitakuye Oaysin, Pila Miya, sweet one.”

“Aho cousin, I respond, Pila Miya, thank you for being with me.”

And with my reply, hawk leaves my view, yet I know he flies back into the realm of my inner awareness of a constant presence even when unseen. I hear Brent practicing Christmas Carols in a variety of silly voices and I begin to laugh with the trees, honored to live in both worlds, each of which is miraculous in their own way.

Join us In This Movement and Intention

 

This letter outlines a powerful intention and vision that asks us to join as a collective and I encourage you to read it today.

Last week we visited one of our favorite spiritual communities, The Gathering, in Cocoa, Florida and about 35 people came together around The Power of Our Way Medicine Wheel to pray, vision and heal.

 

Within minutes of wrapping up, two of my own prayers came true (an extra set of eyes to help edit my next book and a monthly speaking engagement in Cocoa) and the next day, I received the answer to my third prayer (this one is HUGE!), and now, I just need to get out of my own way to make way for the prayers to come into full physical manifestation.

 

My own inner "thought demons" quickly came up to the surface and I was reminded of the self-destructive fears and beliefs within my own consciousness. 

 

It was a great reminder to "Walk My Own Wheel," and today, the Universe conspired to give me the opportunity to practice what I preach and use my own shamanic practice on myself.  But, before going into that sweet space of sacred ceremony, I felt the pull to connect with you and extend the invitation to join me in holding a powerful intention for the over 14,000 people who make up the Power of Our Way Community around the globe and all of the people we impact with our own consciousness.

 

Some active, and some passive, this community is bonded together with some pretty amazing spiritual principles and commitments.

 

Together, we create a powerful force for transformation, each of us bringing a unique infusion of talents, gifts and experiences that can be leveraged to serve the collective.

 

Evidenced in too many examples to list here, we can all agree that we are alive at an incredible time in an evolving history of humanity- one of both transition and transcendence.

 

As we continue to transcend perceived limitation within our minds and spirits, we will witness great openings to miracles that our human conditioned mind can actually block from our perceptions, let alone our experiences.

 

What was commonly held as TRUTH thousands of years ago became tainted with social, political, and religious forms of control and abuse (all the while enticing people with promises of salvation and freedom).

 

I am confident that our future generations will see themselves as aspects of the Divine, regardless of the many labels humans used to place upon them (or attempted to) .

 

Interestingly enough,  in this paradixical world we seem to live in, the mere fact that we are "conscious" of ourselves, and have free will (choice) actually created options for us to be unconscious. Fear and exclusion have worked wonders to maintain power and control at levels within our social hierarchies to date, but moving forward I see us gaining momentum and speed within the consciousness movement.

 

Just as is reinforced in www.divinitymovie.com, we will find ourselves more able to see the Divine presencing itself in every single person on the planet.

 

Race, gender, sexual orientation and religion will become irrelevant when assigning worth to the diverse members of our human family. Instead, we will see an insurgence of compassion, empathy, love, gratitude, faith, and unity within the very fabric of our collective consciousness.

 

Holy, sacred, and fully integrated, our next generation will better understand their inherent power to create heaven on earth. They won't be fettered by the same insecurities, fears and perceived limitations to what they can create in the world, their bodies, and their relationships.

 

Mastery will be encouraged by leaders, teachers and preachers because they won't be afraid of losing power or influence. Equality amongst all peoples will be a reality not a dream. Peace will become The Power of Our Way as a global community and all emerging conflicts or disparity will be seen as an opportunity to come together in CommUNITY.

 

War will become a historical and educational reminder of what happens when we lose touch with knowing one another as brother, sister and cousin - as children of a Divine Source of inherent goodness who loves us unconditionally.

 

Healing our bodies will begin with with healing hearts, minds and spirits. Energy healing modalities will become the norm and we will learn how to harness new forms of energy to fuel our cars and homes in ways that heal the earth and our environment.

 

We won't see poverty and homelessness as options for anyone in our human family and no child will ever go to bed hungry or without a family who loves them as God does.

 

I see this shift happening as a spiritual inevitability. And, intuitively, we know it begins with healing our own internal beliefs and divisions and taking responsibility for our own shifts.

 

This is why I exist. It is why you exist. It is why we are coming together in such powerful ways and I am honored to be playing my own part in the creation of this new reality.

 

So, keep it up. Don't give up. Your life is to be lived as a ceremony - an expression of the Divine in physical form.

There Are No Mistakes - Only Synchronicity - Power of Our Way In Living Example!

As I watched the last few days unfold into a momentous and globally provocative moment in history, I was tickled by the synchronicities and Divine assistance I received in the very pages of my first book, The Power of Our Way: A Path to a Collective Consciousness. Aware of my own fears and judgments (and my very human attachment to the outcome of the Presidential elections) I have also been honored to guide a group at the

through the 31 day journey.  In “doing the book” alongside them, I find I have been equally served by gong through the daily readings and morning thought invokers myself.

 

The daily readings correspond to the days of the month, and the last three days, corresponding to November 3, 4^th and today, the 5^th, have held such deep and profound meaning and guidance during this monumentally important election. Therefore, I include them here for you to connect into the energy that has synchronistically assisted me in staying focused on a greater truth; one unburdened by cultural codependencies, fear, or the stories that have created the common culture to this point.

DAY 3 – The Day Before Election Day!

Oh Great Spirit, creator of all beings, today I see the grace and gifts within all whose paths I cross.  I bless the existence and contributions of all human beings as we all journey on the path.  I honor each individual as equal under the eyes of God, and I connect to my ability and desire to see all as God sees.  I choose to honor the image in which all individuals were created.  Everyone I meet is a reflection of God’s grace and creativity. I release all judgment against others and see people as mirrors for my own growth and Truth consciousness.  When I experience non-judgment I have an opportunity to love unconditionally.  I see all beings as children born of the same source, driven by the force to meet unmet needs; and I deeply know that all of our needs are the same.  I elevate myself to the highest level of my Truth and possess the wisdom and courage to see others and myself as equals.

Today I pray for new beginnings.  This day is dedicated to reinventing past thoughts, feelings and opinions that no longer serve my highest purpose and highest good.  Today I emerge from the fog of my misperceptions and release my old beliefs.  I am no longer scared to admit that life is a wonderful, amazing mystery, with so much unknown and so much to remain unknown.  Today I am in awe of the great mystery and allow the unknown to overpower my consciousness.  I invite curiosity into my awareness and look at the world through the eyes of a child, innocent and untainted by negative experiences, worries, irrational beliefs and thought patterns. Today I take notice of the details in all that surrounds me. The richness and possibility of it all is breathtaking.  I honor the opportunity to choose my existence today.  I honor the opportunity to co-create my thought, feelings, actions and words into experience and memory for myself and all who cross my path.  I define who I am with each thought and interaction and know that I am on the path that I am intended to follow. I walk this path with grace and integrity in all moments of choice.  I choose quality over quantity, success over failure, love over hatred and faith over fear.  I bless this day with the richness of my choices and experiences and walk hand and hand with Spirit.

Today I willingly take the hand of Spirit and walk towards my life with openness and spiritual accountability.  God is my partner and I honor His gifts of experience and symbolism with choices that lie in integrity and honor with my highest self.  I co-create each experience by adding my perceptions and beliefs and ask that my perceptions and beliefs be aligned with my highest self. I co-create the totality of my experiences and am conscious of my effect on those around me.  I ask to see divine Truth and free myself of insecurity, negativity and self-sabotage.  I will create opportunities by reaching for God when in need, holding the hand of the all knowing and all loving and walking into the beauty of my life.  I co-create my relationships through my own thoughts, feelings and actions and co-create my experiences through my perceptions, attitudes and beliefs.  I bear witness to my role in the co-creation of peace on the planet, beginning with the co-creation of peace within myself and in my relationships with others.  I co-create a sense of wholeness and willingness to walk the highest path, aligned with the principles of equality and choice in each and every moment of this day.

Everything I Learned I Learned in Jail

Well, maybe not everything, but I venture to say that I learned more about spiritual and life principles during the 14 years I worked in various jails than I ever could have by studying with a zen master or learning how to meditate with a self-professed mindful meditation instructor or guru. Of course my training has added depth to what I have come to understand, but no way would I be the person I am today had I not lead the life I have.

Recently, I have felt a bit challenged by a paradigm that gauges your level of expertise (let alone worthiness) by who you studied with or how many years (or dollars) you spent "earning" your level of enlightenment, or, better yet, who "certified" you through what "accredited" body of "authorities" in your chosen field.

Don't get me wrong, as both a teacher and a student, I'm all for focused study and honing your craft. I wouldn't have surgery performed by an on-line certificated doctor or an amazon jungle shaman (unless it was the absolute only option and my life depended on it). No one becomes proficient without training and practice, but when you're asked "who taught you to meditate?" or what medicine man in what jungle put you through years of humiliation so you can call yourself a shaman (and know in advance that the answer will immediately categorize me as qualified or unqualified) it causes me to wonder.

Number 1, I wonder when we decided there was one right way. I wonder how much we unconsciously qualify or disqualify folks based on what we have come to believe is the only way or the "right" way. I also wonder how much our own judgments prevent us from seeing the inherent gifts in the people that surround us. Even my husband, who is an incredible musician who can play (really well) over 7 instruments. But, because he doesn't read music (his amzingly talented ears does the "seeing" for him) there a lot of people who say he's not really a musician.

I know, I know, some of this really does matter. But recently, I moved to state where a "Hypnotist" is classified as a "fortune teller clairvoyant." And, when it comes right down to it, most of what has shaped me I honestly did learn during my 14 years working in jails.

So, what did I learn?

1. Most people have been conditioned to think and be who they think themselves to be and a lot of that conditioning is pretty screwed up.

2. Compassion is a choice and without it you can not serve. If you judge someone, or see them as damaged or less than, you can't really serve them from a place of potential and possibility.

3. If you think you know everything and are not curious about learning more, or open to the idea that you don't really have it all figured out, your gonna miss a lot of pretty amazing stuff!

4. Being conscious is not about being perfect. Rather, being conscious is about being aware of your inner dialogues, the beliefs that are driving your experiences, and being aware of your surroundings and the influence they have on your energy and thoughts - and behaviors.

5. Intuition can save your life - or at least will direct you in the direction of your highest good and may carry you in a different direction than others might agree is "the right way." In spite of living in a world that is reliant on us not trusting ourselves or knowing how to meet our needs, intuition is an inherent gift that has helped me understand how to approach someone that is especially tender (or volatile, as was the case in the jail), and it has helped me in the areas of timing, relationships, and even how to heal a body that all the medically trained sages told me was impossible to heal.

6. You can not heal that which you harbor hate, resentment, judgment, "othering", disrespect, elitism, guilt or shame towards. This includes our bodies, relationships, politics, or the world.

7. There really isn't a "one way" or absolute "right and only way" to some unatainable level of absolute spiritual perfection or so-called enlightenment. What works for one may not work for another. God speaks to us and through us in some incredibly unique and amazing ways. Just because I don't see spaceships or have had an E.T. experience doesnlt mean they don't exist. My belief in something might influence my experience but it doesn't necessarily make it TRUE with a capital "T."

8. Honoring resonance in self and others makes sacred space for building a sense of deep, mutual respect and self trust in the world. We would spend a whole lot less time recruiting or trying to change or fix ourselves or others and instead open our eyes to the amazing array of individual-ness and uniquenesses that make up our incredible world. Just because I don't resonate with piercing far off places on my body does not mean someone who does is any less of a good person than I am. Even my husband is better liked since he cut his hair and covered up his tatoos. Somehow we live in a world where long hair equates to "bum" and someone you don't want to be seen with, let alone "like." How "enlightened" is that?

9. The fact that someone eats meat ( I do), drinks wine (I don't), loves making love to their husband (I do), watches television (I do), isn't perfect (I'm not) or still has human qualities (I do), doesn't claim one religious affiliation (I don't - as of today), occasionally acts like an idiot (I do) or only eats organic (I don't) doesn't mean they are any less than or more than anyone else - or worthy of your attention.  Thank God we come in different flavors and colors - all bringing a unique texture to the very fabric of humanity. Otherwise I'd be bored by now!

10. True depth of spirit and character requires us to expand our thinking and go beyond our assumptions and beliefs. Being open is not "wishy washy." Rather, being open creates massive opportunity to grow and become more compassionate and loving in the world.

We came here for each other - to love and bear witness

Of a potential we all have to wake up and see

That believing we're ONE will set us all free
